Job Description

Help bring community-focused projects to life as a Part-Time Grant Writer in Knoxville / Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role supports funding efforts for property revitalization, arts and cultural programming, public gathering spaces, and neighborhood improvements. Working with leadership, you will identify promising funding opportunities, develop compelling applications, and keep submissions and reporting on track. The position offers part-time, flexible hours and is suited to an organized, resourceful writer who can manage deadlines independently.

Responsibilities

• Research foundation, corporate, and government grants; assess eligibility and recommend opportunities aligned with project goals.
• Write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, project narratives, and supporting materials.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop project budgets, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
• Maintain a grant calendar and track application deadlines, submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate supporting documentation and follow up with funding organizations.
• Assist with grant reports and documentation of project results.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated grant-writing experience, with strong writing and research skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple applications and deadlines independently.
• Experience preparing budgets and organizing supporting documentation.
• Clear communication, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
• Preferred: experience with community development, historic preservation, arts, or nonprofit funding.
• A plus: familiarity with Tennessee and regional funding sources.
